The Palestinian death toll in the Gaza Strip has risen to 60,332, with 147,643 others injured since the conflict between Hamas and Israel erupted on Oct 7, 2023, Gaza's health authorities said in a statement on Friday.
Over the past 24 hours, Israeli attacks have claimed 83 lives and injured 554 others, according to the statement.
U.S. Special Envoy to the Middle East Steve Witkoff visited war-torn Gaza on Friday to inspect an aid distribution center operated by the Gaza Humanitarian Foundation (GHF), a private organization backed by the United States and Israel.
The latest figures from the Office of the United Nations High Commissioner for Human Rights show that 1,373 people have been killed while seeking food in the Strip since May 27, most of them by the Israeli military. Among these casualties, 859 were killed in the vicinity of the GHF sites, while 514 lost their lives along food convoy routes. In the last two days of July alone, 105 Palestinians were reportedly killed, the statement also said.
